KodamaPrivacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your information in Kodama, an English shadowing app (the "app"), and on this website.
- Your speech is scored on your phone. Recordings are never sent to a server.
- No account, no ads, no analytics in the app, no tracking.
- We never sell or share your information.
1. Recordings and pronunciation scoring
Kodama uses the microphone only while you hold a recording. The recording stays in your phone's memory to score your pronunciation and is discarded when you leave that sentence. It is never saved as a file or sent anywhere. You can withdraw microphone access at any time in your device settings.
2. What Kodama stores on your phone
- Your texts: titles, the English text, and which sentences you've practised.
- Your pronunciation record: which words and sounds you got right or missed, and when to review them.
- Settings: theme, chosen voice, and the goals and sounds you picked during onboarding.
This stays in the app's private storage and is not sent to us or anyone else.
3. Downloading the voice and scoring model
The first time you practise, Kodama downloads the reading voice and the pronunciation model (about 450 MB) from GitHub. Like any web request, this gives GitHub technical details such as your IP address. Your texts and recordings are not sent.
4. Purchases (Kodama Plus)
Payment is handled by Apple (App Store) on iPhone or Google (Google Play) on Android. We never see your name, Apple ID or Google account, or payment details.
To check and restore purchases, Kodama uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID, your purchase and renewal history, and basic technical details such as the app version, operating system and store country. It does not receive your texts, recordings or pronunciation record.
5. This website
This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. It uses no cookies, ads or analytics. Like any web request, serving it gives Cloudflare technical details such as your IP address.
6. Device backups
If you use iCloud or Google backup, your Kodama data (texts and pronunciation record) may be included in backups under your own account. You can change this in your device settings.
7. Email to support
If you tap Send feedback in Settings, your email app opens with our address. We only see what you choose to send.
8. Children
Kodama is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
9. Deleting your information
- Uninstalling Kodama removes all of its data from your phone, including the downloaded models.
- To delete purchase records held by RevenueCat, email us.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
